Blocking Time

Block time marks slots as unavailable so clients can’t book them online. It’s built for quick, everyday use: when an employee’s day fills up, when someone leaves early, or when you simply want to close a gap.

Blocked time appears as a hatched gray region on your calendar - visually distinct from sessions and events - and those slots disappear from your public booking page immediately. When several calendars share one week column, the block is tinted with its calendar’s color and labeled with the calendar’s name, so you can always tell whose time is blocked.

Blocking time never cancels existing bookings. Sessions that are already scheduled inside a blocked range stay exactly as they are - blocks only stop new bookings.

Blocking slots

Open the day or week view

Block mode is available in the day and week views of your calendar.

Tap the block button

Click the Block time button (the ⊘ icon) in the calendar toolbar - on a phone it lives in the ⋯ menu at the end of the calendar header row. A banner confirms you’re in block mode.

Tap the slots you want to block

Each tap instantly blocks that hour - no form, no confirmation. Tap a blocked slot again to unblock it. Adjacent blocked hours merge into a single block automatically.

Tap Done

Click Done in the banner (or press Escape) to exit block mode.

Blocking the rest of a day

In block mode, every day (or calendar column) shows a Block rest of day chip. One click blocks everything from now (or from the start of the working day, for future days) until the end of that calendar’s working hours.

This is the fastest way to close a day when an employee’s remaining slots shouldn’t be bookable - for example, when someone who works 4 hours has already received 4 bookings.

Adjusting a block

Need a block that isn’t a full hour? Drag the top or bottom edge of any blocked region - it snaps to 15-minute steps, so you can turn 14:00-15:00 into 14:30-15:15 in one gesture. On a phone, rest your finger on the edge for a moment first (the same hold you use to move an appointment), then drag; a quick swipe still scrolls the calendar. Dragging a block into another one merges them.

Removing a block

Outside block mode, click any blocked region to see its time range and a Remove block button. You can also re-enter block mode and tap the hours you want to free up - unblocking the middle of a larger block splits it in two.

Blocking per specialist

Each calendar is blocked independently:

  • Day view shows one column per calendar - tap slots in the right column.
  • Week view has a Group by calendar toggle that splits each day into per-calendar lanes. Block mode turns the lanes on automatically when more than one calendar is visible.

Blocks vs events

Blocks are for pure unavailability. If you need a title, a description, or a recurring schedule (like a lunch break every Monday), create an event instead - events can also block booking time.
