Date Filtering Best Practices

Consistent Comparisons

For accurate comparisons:

  • Compare same-length periods
  • Account for holidays
  • Consider seasonality

Meaningful Periods

Choose periods that make sense:

  • Don’t compare 7 days to 90 days
  • Align with your business cycles
  • Use consistent review periods

Document Findings

When analyzing data:

  • Note the date range used
  • Record key metrics
  • Track trends over time

Troubleshooting

No Data Showing

If the dashboard is empty:

  1. Check date range isn’t too restrictive
  2. Verify you have sessions in that period
  3. Try a broader range
  4. Ensure data exists (not just created)

Unexpected Numbers

If numbers seem wrong:

  1. Verify the correct date range is selected
  2. Check timezone settings
  3. Understand what’s being counted
  4. Verify session dates are correct

Comparison Not Available

Some metrics may not show comparison:

  • Not enough historical data
  • Metric doesn’t support comparison
  • Period too short

Create a monthly routine: On the 1st, review “Last Month” data. On Mondays, review “Last 7 Days.”
